Scientific Program

The CI2019 Pediatric Symposium will assemble a multi-specialty group of clinicians and scientists to explore the 2019 Program Theme: Treating the Whole Child. The CI2019 Pediatric Program will explore the following topics:

  1. Beyond the CI: The Role of Therapy, Education and Family Engagement
  2. Moving the Field Forward: Expanding Indications & Special Needs Populations
  3. New Models of Service Delivery: Models for a Global Healthcare Market
  4. Complex Cases: Surgical and Audiological Management
  5. Advancements in Pediatric CI: Science, Technology, and Medicine

Abstract Submission

The Call for Abstracts for CI2019 Pediatric is NOW OPEN! 

The scientific program committee welcomes your abstract submissions on the CI2019 Program Theme "Treating the Whole Child", as well as other research on cochlear implants and other auditory technology.

Submission Deadline: The abstract submission deadline is December 6, 2018 at 11:59pm CT. Please be advised that there will be no extensions to this deadline, so plan ahead.

Abstract Review and Notification: The Program Committee has the responsibility to review and rank all abstracts that are submitted. Abstracts will be considered for both Podium and Poster Presentations. Email notifications will be sent to corresponding authors no later than February 28, 2019.

Registration Requirement: Upon acceptance, all presenting authors of both oral and poster presentations must register for the meeting and are responsible for their registration and travel expenses. Failure to register by March 20, 2019 will result in removal from the scientific program.

Student Poster Competition: A Student Poster Competition will be held for those enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, residency or fellowship program. Student authors may indicate if an abstract should be considered for the Student Poster Competition as a part of the abstract submission process.

Advance Submission:

CI2018 DC will be utilizing a Presentation Management system that allows for advance submission of presentations, review of presentations in the Speaker Ready Room, and networked transfer of presentations into each session room. ACI Alliance requires that presentations be submitted IN ADVANCE of the meeting to allow adequate time for closed captioning to be prepared for your presentation (at least 24 hours in advance of your session start time). Access to the Presentation Management system will be granted on or around February 16, 2018.

Speaker Ready Room:

The Speaker Ready Room will be located in the Sales Conference Room on the Lobby Level of the Omni Shoreham (across from West Registration) and will be operational during the following hours:                                

Wednesday, March 7:             12:00pm – 7:00pm

Thursday, March 8:                 6:30am – 5:30pm

Friday, March 9:                     7:00am – 5:30pm

Saturday, March 10:               7:00am – 12:00pm

Poster Format Requirements:

Your poster must meet these guidelines:

  • Posters must be no larger than 44" tall by 44" wide.

  • A copy of the abstract must be incorporated into the poster or may be attached to the upper left-hand corner of the panel.

  • A section at the top of the poster must contain the Title, Authors, and Affiliations.

Registration, Housing, and Travel

All podium and poster presenters are required to register for the CI2018 Emerging Issues Meeting and are responsible for their own travel expenses.
